Thank you
for your interest in your Charlotte Chapter of the
Interior Design Society. We encourage you to join
right in and participate in the excitement. Our
chapter is very active with trade-hosted monthly
meetings, an annual Showhouse
to benefit local charities, and educational
opportunities to keep you updated on things of new
and old.
Once you
join IDS through the national office in
High Point,
whether you are a residential designer, or
a business within our
trade, you then qualify to activate membership at
the local level. This is networking at its best, and
where your membership really works for you. Below
are the affiliation levels of membership, the
requirements of annual dues, and the benefits for
your participation. If you have any questions,

Levels of
Membership & Local Chapter Benefits
Your National Membership dues
must be paid annually to The Interior Design Society
Association in High Point, NC. You must be a current
member in good standing in order to advertise, use the
IDS logo, and/or join our local chapter.
Remember, you
must be a National member before you are eligible to
join our local chapter. The Interior Design

Local IDS Professional Member
of the Interior Design Society
Local dues are $96.00 and
are due January 1st. If joining our local chapter after
June 30th of this year you will be paying $ 144.00 for
18 months so you will be on the same payment schedule as
our other members.
- You must have successfully
completed “THE CQRID EXAMINATION” (Certified
Qualification of Residential Interior Designers).
- Also have a four year
accredited interior design degree, and/or have a
minimum of eight years of on-the-job interior design
experience.
- A Professional membership
status may also be attained if you have passed a
certified exam that is recognized by our National
Interior Design Society Association.
Your name, business name,
address, phone & fax #, e-mail, & website will be listed
in our local directory. Your name, phone number, &
website will be included on the local
IDS Charlotte website. Professional members in
good standing will be eligible to design a room at a
designer Showhouse.

Local Associate Member of the
Interior Design Society
Local dues are $72.00 and
are due January 1st. If joining our local chapter after
June 30th of this year you will be paying $108.00 for 18
months so you will be on the same payment schedule as
our other members.
- Interior Designer with a
degree from an accredited Interior Design School
must also have a minimum of “two years” on-the-job
experience with a design firm, and/or be
self-employed with business license and /or resale
number.
- Interior Designer that
works for an interior design firm and/or
self-employed with a minimum of “four years” on the
job business experience. Must have a business
license and/or resale number.
Your name, business name,
address, phone, fax #, e-mail, & website will be listed
in our local directory. Your name, phone number, &
website will be included on the local
IDS Charlotte website. Associates in good
standing will be eligible to design a room at a designer
Showhouse.

Local Affiliate Member of the
Interior Design Society
Local dues are $60.00 and
are due January 1st. If joining our local chapter after
June 30th of this year you will be paying $90.00 for 18
months so you will be on the same payment schedule as
our other members.
- A new practicing
residential designer that has not completed the
minimum requirements of their interior design degree
and/or have not acquired the minimum of full time
“four years” of on-the-job experience.
- Must have a business
license and/or resale number, or currently be
employed by an interior design related firm.
Your name, business name,
address, phone, fax #, e-mail & website will be listed
in our local directory. Your name or business will not
be included on the local IDS Charlotte website. Affiliates will not be eligible to design a room for a
designer Showhouse.

Local Commercial/Trade Member of the
Interior Design Society
Trade members are an important
component in the IDS member structure. Manufacturers,
distributors and fabricators of design-oriented products
are eligible to become IDS Trade members. Because trends
and new products are of prime interest to our members,
IDS offers to assist its Trade members disseminate
information about their products to our thousands of
members nationwide.
All Trade members are invited to
participate in IDS programs and events at both the
national and local levels, and are entitled to use all
IDS services. As a Trade member, you help the Society
keep IDS members up-to-date on changes and new
developments in the products and services they need to
effectively run their businesses.
Annual Trade local dues are $96.00 and
are due January 1st. If joining our local chapter after
June 30th of this year you will be paying $ 144.00 for
18 months so you will be on the same payment schedule as
our other members.
