Over thirty years ago, the Carolinas Chapter of IDS
was formed. The group included designers from North and South Carolina,
and even had participating members from as far away as Augusta, Georgia.
The history of IDS Charlotte is one of remarkable
progress. In 1984 this chapter reorganized into the Greater Charlotte
IDS Chapter, which was more demographically located to serve residential
interior designers located in the Charlotte-Metro area. About twenty
professionals attended the first meeting at Ethan Allen on Independence
Boulevard. Today the quality and caliber of our chapter members is
proof of the continued growth of our organization in education, networking,
and charitable fund-raising events.
