To Join IDS and the IDS Charlotte Chapter: For Charlotte Chapter and National IDS membership information please email us at info@idscharlotte.com. Once approved by National IDS for membership, you are then eligible to attend IDS Charlotte Chapter meetings, network and participate in activities in the local IDS Charlotte Chapter.
IDS Charlotte “Professional Designer” Membership
Benefits:
Your name, business name, address, phone & fax number, e-mail, & website will be listed in our local directory. Your name, phone number, email & website, and two portfolio images will be listed on our Find A Designer page. Professional members in good standing will be eligible to design a room at a designer Showhouse.
Requirements & Dues:
1. Your National Membership dues must be paid annually to The Interior Design Society Association in High Point, NC. You must be a current national member in good standing in order to advertise, use the IDS logo, and/or join our local chapter.
2. You must have successfully completed “THE CQRID EXAMINATION” (Certified Qualification of Residential Interior Designers).
3. You must have a four year accredited interior design degree, and/or have a minimum of eight years of on-the-job interior design experience.
4. A Professional membership status may also be attained if you have passed a certified exam that is recognized by our National Interior Design Society Association.
5. Professional member dues will be $ 86.00 and are due by January 31st of each year. Convenient payment can be made by Charge or Check to IDS Charlotte.
IDS Charlotte “Associate Designer” Membership
Benefits:
Your name, business name, address, phone & fax number, e-mail, & website will be listed in our local directory. Your name, phone number, & website will be listed on our Find A Designer page. Associates in good standing will be eligible to design a room at a designer Showhouse.
Requirements & Dues:
1. Your National Membership dues must be paid annually to The Interior Design Society Association in High Point, NC. You must be a current national member in good standing in order to advertise, use the IDS logo, and/or join our local chapter.
2. Interior Designer with a degree from an accredited Interior Design School must also have a minimum of “two years” on-the-job experience with a design firm, and/or be self-employed with business license and /or resale number.
3. Interior Designer that works for an interior design firm and/or self-employed with a minimum of “four years” on the job business experience. Must have a business license and/or resale number.
4. Associate member dues will be $ 62.00 and are due by January 31st of each year. Convenient payment can be made by Charge or Check to IDS Charlotte.
IDS Charlotte Affiliate Designer Membership
Benefits:
Your name, business name, address, phone & fax number, e-mail & website will be listed in our local directory. Your name or business will not be included on the local www.idscharlotte.com website. Affiliates are not be eligible to design a room for a designer Showhouse.
Requirements & Dues:
1. Your National Membership dues must be paid annually to The Interior Design Society Association in High Point, NC. You must be a current national member in good standing in order to advertise, use the IDS logo, and/or join our local chapter.
2. A new practicing residential designer that has not completed the minimum requirements of their interior design degree and/or have not acquired the minimum of full time “four years” of on-the-job experience. Must have a business license and/or resale number, or currently be employed by an interior design related firm.
3. Affiliate member dues will be $ 50.00 and are due by January 31st of each year. Convenient payment can be made by Charge or Check to IDS Charlotte.
IDS Charlotte “Student” Membership
Benefits:
You have access to valuable training and experienced IDS Designer Members. Your name or business will not be included on the local www.idscharlotte.com website. Students are not be eligible to design a room for a designer Showhouse.
Requirements & Dues:
1. Your National Membership dues must be paid annually to The Interior Design Society Association in High Point, NC. You must be a current national member in good standing in order to advertise, use the IDS logo, and/or join our local chapter.
2. You must be currently enrolled in a residential design program.
3. Student member dues will be $ 25.00 and are due by January 31st of each year. Convenient payment can be made by Charge or Check to IDS Charlotte.
IDS Charlotte Commercial/Trade:
“PID – Partner on Design” & “AP – Affiliate Partner” Memberships

IDS Commercial/Partners in Design & Affiliate Partners are an important component in the IDS member structure. Manufacturers, distributors and fabricators of design-oriented products are eligible to become Commercial AP & PID members. As AP & PID members, you help the Society keep IDS members up-to-date on changes and new developments in the products and services they need to effectively run their businesses.
Benefits:
Local Commercial/PID & AP members are invited to participate in IDS programs and events at both the national and local levels, and are entitled to use all IDS services provided for this category. Your business name, contact person’s name, business address, phone, fax, e-mail, & website will be listed in our IDS Charlotte Chapter directory and all IDS-CLT Newsletters. You are encouraged and welcome to attend, network and host our IDS Charlotte Chapter meetings.
Requirements & Dues:
1. Local Commercial/PID & AP members must be National Commercial Members of the Interior Design Society in order to apply for local membership. For more information Visit www.interiordesignsociety.org
