Thank you for your interest in your Charlotte Chapter of the Interior Design Society. We encourage you to join right in and participate in the excitement. Our chapter is very active with trade-hosted monthly meetings, an annual Showhouse to benefit local charities, and educational opportunities to keep you updated on things of new and old.
Once you join IDS through the national office in High Point, whether you are a residential designer, or a business within our trade, you then qualify to activate membership at the local level. This is networking at its best, and where your membership really works for you. Below are the affiliation levels of membership, the requirements of annual dues, and the benefits for your participation.
Important!
You must be a active member of the IDS national office in order to join our chapter. Memberships are available for individuals, students, and commercial (businesses).

IDS Professional Membership
Benefits
Your name, business name, address, phone & fax number, e-mail, & website will be listed in our local directory. Your name, phone number, email & website, and two portfolio images will be listed on our Find A Designer page. Professional members in good standing will be eligible to design a room at a designer Showhouse.
Requirements & Dues
1. Your National Membership dues must be paid annually to The Interior Design Society
Association in High Point, NC. You must be a current national member in good
standing in order to advertise, use the IDS logo, and/or join our local chapter.
2. You must have successfully completed “THE CQRID EXAMINATION” (Certified Qualification of Residential Interior Designers).
3. You must have a four year accredited interior design degree, and/or have a minimum of eight years of on-the-job interior design experience.
4. A Professional membership status may also be attained if you have passed a certified exam that is recognized by our National Interior Design Society Association.
5. Professional member dues will be $ 86.00 and are due by February 10th of each year. For membership applications submitted after February (March-December of each year), dues will be pro-rated according to the remaining calendar year. You can pay online or by mailing a check.
6. To calculate your payment, multiply the remaining months left in the calendar year by $7.20 (the monthly fee for a Professional Membership).

IDS Associate Membership
Benefits

Requirements & Dues
1. Your National Membership dues must be paid annually to The Interior Design Society
Association in High Point, NC. You must be a current national member in good

2. Interior Designer with a degree from an accredited Interior Design School must also have a minimum of “two years”
on-the-job experience with a design firm, and/or be self-employed with business license and /or resale number.
3. Interior Designer that works for an interior design firm and/or self-employed with a minimum of “four years” on
the job business experience. Must have a business license and/or resale number.
4. Associate member dues will be $ 62.00 and are due by February 10th of each year. For membership applications submitted after February (March-December of each year), dues will be pro-rated according to the remaining calendar year. You can pay online or by mailing a check.
5. To calculate your payment, multiply the remaining months left in the calendar year by $5.20 (the monthly fee for an Associate Membership).

2. A new practicing residential designer that has not completed the minimum requirements of their interior design

business license and/or resale number, or currently be employed by an interior design related firm.
3. Affiliate member dues will be $ 50.00 and are due by February 10th of each year. For membership applications submitted after February (March-December of each year), dues will be pro-rated according to the remaining calendar year. You can pay online or by mailing a check.
4. To calculate your payment, multiply the remaining months left in the calendar year by $4.20 (the monthly fee for an Affiliate Membership).

IDS Student Membership
Requirements & Dues

4. To calculate your payment, multiply the remaining months left in the calendar year by $2.08 (the monthly fee for an Student Membership).

IDS Commercial/Trade Membership
Trade members are an important component in the IDS member structure. Manufacturers, distributors and fabricators of design-oriented products are eligible to become IDS Trade members. Because trends and new products are of prime interest to our members, IDS offers to assist its Trade members disseminate information about their products to our thousands of members nationwide.
Benefits
All Trade members are invited to participate in IDS programs and events at both the national and local levels, and are entitled to use all IDS services. As a Trade member, you help the Society keep IDS members up-to-date on changes and new developments in the products and services they need to effectively run their businesses. Your business name, contact person’s name, business address, phone, fax, e-mail, & website will be listed in our IDS Charlotte Chapter directory. Your above information will also be listed in the “Members Page” section of our website directory. You are encouraged and welcome to attend our chapter meetings.

1. A Commercial/Trade Member must be a National Commercial Member of the Interior Design Society in order to apply for local
